12 Classroom Teachers, 3 Adjunct Teachers
Community Green Charter School opens in DeSoto County, Florida
Have you wished . . . that you could be involved with bringing Progressive/democratic education to children without the concern of tuition at a private school? Interested in peace studies, sustainability, agriculture and the environment? Our time is here. The Community Green Charter School opens in DeSoto County, Florida in August 2011. We need:
12 classroom teachers
3 adjunct teachers (1 farm manager, 1 equine/large animal, 1 4-H small animal)
Teachers need at least a bachelor degree from a college accredited by the Association of Colleges and Schools and need to be certifiable (pun intended ;o). Traditional public school certification is helpful but not required, we?ll help you get that. What is required is a deep, abiding love for children, an understanding and commitment to Progressive/democratic education, and the ability to function successfully in a democratic team.
Salary for basically the ten-month year, payable year round is between $35-40K with relatively good benefits and a school community committed to your well-being.
Mission: Our goal is to graduate peacemakers who are independent life-long learners with their creativity and joy for learning intact ? whole people who can create new knowledge.
To be truly educated is to gain the ability to ask questions and find answers ? for yourself.
To that end, the Community Green Charter School is a free, public K-12 Progressive/democratic program with an emphasis on sustainability, the environment and peace education focusing on the history and culture of Florida. The school will have a significant emphasis on health and nutrition education through the understanding of the principles of agriculture and direct involvement through an in-school 4-H club in a green farm environment. The school will begin in August 2011 with grades K-7, rolling up at least one grade per year.
